FOCUS-2
For College Students, Alumni and Prospective Students

FOCUS-2 has been adopted for use by 2-year and 4-year colleges, universities, and technical institutes nationwide. The FOCUS-2 services are provided through the college's Career Services Centers, Academic Advising Centers and Alumni Associations. College Admissions Offices also provide FOCUS-2 to visiting high school seniors who are applying to the college.

Services for Students, Alumni and Prospective Students
FOCUS-2 helps students select the right major area of study in your college and map out their career plans with personalized career and education exploration. FOCUS-2 contains your college's Major Areas of Study.  Students and other users can access FOCUS-2 on any PC or MAC computer on the Internet anywhere, any time. Users' results are always saved so they can come back and pick up where they last left off. Users can self register and Login to access FOCUS-2 via your college's website. FOCUS-2 enables users to:

  • Self-Assess their career related Interests (Holland Code), Skills & Abilities, Values, Personality Type, Leisure Time Interests, and Career Planning Status. Results are used to identify occupations matching their personal attributes. To narrow and refine their exploration of occupations and education programs, the student can combine the results of any 2 or more of their assessment results and vary the education level to which they aspire. Students' assessment results are matched with potential career options and the major areas of study at your college supporting those careers.
Broaden their career horizons by exploring occupations and education programs that match their assessment profiles. FOCUS-2 has over 1200 occupations, most with videos, and 3,500 major areas of study and training programs. Complete descriptions of occupations are provided including the nature of the work, duties, qualifications, earnings, advancement, job outlook, work settings, etc.
  • Explore Majors and Search for occupations using "What Can I do with a Major in ________?"

We insert your college's Major Areas of Study
into FOCUS-2 and link them to all the occupations.

  • Students can also search for occupations by Name and Type of Industry
  • Narrow down their options and make decisions: The students compare the pros and cons of occupations. They see graphic comparisons of their Holland Interest Code contrasted with an occupation's standardized Holland Code. They can compare occupations using a Side-by-Side format.
  • Map out Goals: As the students move through the system's modules, they identify and prioritize the occupations that most appeal to them as potential goals, along with the major areas of study, advanced degrees and certifications offered at your school needed to achieve their goals.
  • Search for Jobs, Internships, etc. by geographic location (national, state and local), type of employer, military, part time, green jobs, international opportunities, religious opportunities, internships, etc. They can search for Graduate Schools and Volunteer positions using web sites chosen by counselors.
  • An Automated Portfolio Builder summarizes the student's results for review by the student and counselors.
